It's Monday and I'm off sick, so here's a movie poster. Another pretty good effort for
127 Hours. The colors are beautifully vibrant (something I
faulted the trailer for, but it looks like I'll just have to get used to it), and I love the sense of tension from the boulder wedged so precariously below him. I think, for people who know what the movie is about, it works. At the same time, though, this is exactly what I would imagine a poster for a documentary of the same subject to look like. It's interesting to me that the top line goes with "a triumphant true story" rather than "based on..." Also, "triumphant"? Not sure if that's the word I would choose - it's not incorrect, but something about it doesn't seem to fit. I guess what I'm getting at is that this could easily be a documentary about James Franco's love of rock climbing (kind of like those ones about Ewan McGregor and his motorcycle). I don't know. I like it a lot, but I wonder if people who don't know about the film will get anything out of it or want to see it.
